1.
Blue Pools 04:12
Stoney Creatures forging their tunnels Finding light Within the bleak shadowy dust Stitching foreign objects together All bound up As fractured rhythms contradict time The tree waves her arms about And mumbles to all of the others Through underground stems Systems rumble about the great deep Tiny shoots wriggling Through mud, through mud Tomorrow's away Lifeblood shooting Roots of the night Searching for organs Pumping station Building momentum Flowing through archways Vanishing point Stairwell locked cabin Hiding moon portals The tree waves her arms about And mumbles to all of the others Through underground stems Where the aqua-grey stardust Absorbs into the deep Blue pools, blue pools
2.
Fondly I approach your decaying Features carved and woven Concealed by a perpetual undergrowth Your pulse buried in leaves Carrying secrets whispered by strangers Holding tiny lights Mixed with broad stretches darkness Printed on wood Quietly resting by you As the hours The weather The years pass one after another Listening to the breath of an echo Tip-toing upon the cold stone of Vacant chancels where you remain Hidden but for the eyes that look Where your wisdom spills out A mouthful of tangled vines
3.
The formation of stalagmites Occurs between the gaps of sound and silence Taps are dripping and hands are stirring Hot sauces in a steel pan And the rainwater percolates limestone caverns As mounds of calcites collect and new forms emerge From the darkness Unearthing mysteries from a deep clear pool Where sound became muffled by watery stillness And sight becomes blurred As in the spaces in between Soon enough minerals merge depositing surprises
4.
Piranesi 04:26
Your voice narrated my sleep, Piranesi There's more expansion occurring through this night time Explore the palace, stepping over the skyline Shadowed and stranded, offerings for an echo Follow messiahs, tell shocking truths or pointless lies In rooms transcended by the wrong people Within intimate memories of childhood The waves are a lapping and tripping Dancing over the marble shore
5.
Tobacco Pipe 04:43
The gate is locked but the lights are on No-one is answering the phone Hint of tobacco drifts by my nostrils Here time travels Transporting me back again To a time when she was here And I was held in her mind and hands Cleaning my scraped knees Letting me dip my fingers into a bowl of flour Sugared sour apples on my tongue Tobacco pipe drifts and we are all together Hot skies and a bottle of Australian red wine Tales of Koalas Always proudest of the youngest members of the clan Holding us all in your mind Fragments of our story jumbled among the pebbles on a beach Midnight car journeys Cooked breakfast at the end of the pier Love letters never read but not forgotten Last month I was so moved by your stories of Cyril Lost in the war Air raid sirens, air raid sirens Fear falls through the clouds A castle and a telephone box Where it all began Together again in the sky
6.
Our bodies stitch seams across the park Caressing living stones Prehistoric mosses and lichens Catching a breath of a white blue cloud Passing over umber grasses and ferns Antlers and hoofs Watching Listening to the air Tumulus hillocks roll unto the head Where the azure bullets rest Buried from wartime Sea monster Oceans of deep roots Wild tentacles flail about Broken bark crumbles down Where the faeries dwell underneath toadstools Of unfathomable post box red The green and the grey Dying to be birthed again From the womb of Old John
7.
This place that we built And grew with our young hands And a belly full of life Bursting at the seams Hidden in the garden where the tire swings Upon frayed ropes Underneath a canopy of weeping willows While the boats reside And call out unspoken wishes Where the boats reside And call out unspoken wishes Return to the root Follow the grey trail Into the clouds Where standing stones are the keepers And words have no need of speaking
8.
Heron 03:52
We heard the sound of passing Time gonging into stillness Warmth of a breeze Flooding the ageless day A closeness of air flowing all around our bodies As with the sun The light soaks in A balm upon the skin Moments bud as dew on the grass Sounds quiver weaving memories Through this gentle atmosphere Towards the pond Car alarm pulsing Laughter of children Cool grass, bare feet, soft dirt Autumn is upon her way Protected path on the other side Of the pill box bird hide Where a lanky heron rests upon the water Then delves into the sky
9.
Jar of Ashes 04:26
10.
Line made by walking Wild grasses sway with our shoulders Horse shoe arcs laced Through bicycle tyre prints Hike boots thick in mud Heaps of crisp oak leaves Lie in the pit of a trench Company for our path Desire lines mark a new way Bullrush pond broken twigs Path of brick and Swithland blue stone Ivy creeping up old man oak Song of the birds Wild grasses sway with our shoulders Mound of horse shit Achy toe joints Mossy log to rest upon
11.
Sea Ruins 03:48
I live on the side of a hill With a wind that in the winter chill Bites at the skin on your face If you hang around this place too long It sings a song through the gaps that remain An eerie refrain Visits on most of the days New clothes but features the same I can see the sea from here Though in thick cloud it disappears Chattering battering the shore Cormorants and seagulls soar You see our children in houses around We watched them grow up while we crumbled down This is not what we were built for Summer attraction with stalls Watching the grass grow up Through our ripped up walls The waves may reach us and we will fall
12.
Bear 03:11
Timely she awakened pathways to the moon Mere memories fluttering about her Lodged in the throat of a bear Be replaced by something Matching the empty space Another rung on the spiral trail Locking eyes with her For walls and tears Thick layers of bark Fragile youngling of moss and oak Lovely eyes strong and splendid Infinite parting holds its ground Torn away by trembling Whispers of sand inside her shoes
